Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read a menu, find a time and book a table. This page says how the site tries to do that and where it falls short.
Our aim
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe it does, based on the testing below, but it has not been audited by an outside organisation.
What we have done
- Every page has one main heading, a skip link, landmarks and a sensible heading order.
- Everything works with a keyboard, including the booking flow, the date and time choosers, the gift card builder and the menus. Focus is always visible.
- Text contrast is at least 4.5 to 1 against its background, and most body text is above 7 to 1. The measured pairs are listed in the contrast table .
- Every form field has a visible label, errors are written next to the field in words, and results are announced to screen readers.
- Photographs have descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Touch targets are at least 44 pixels. Text can be enlarged to 200 percent without losing content, and nothing needs scrolling sideways at 360 pixels wide.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the slow zoom on photographs, scrolling effects and page transitions are switched off.
- The menus can be printed on a single column and downloaded as a PDF.
- The site needs no cookies and no account.
How we test
Every page is checked with the axe accessibility engine in an automated browser test on each change, together with checks for horizontal overflow at 360 pixels, the reading order of menus and the behaviour of the forms. We also test by keyboard alone and at 200 percent zoom.
What is not perfect
- The street maps are drawings. They have a text description and the walking directions are written out beside them, but they are not a navigation tool.
- The downloadable menu PDFs are generated from the web page. They are text, not images, but they are not fully tagged for screen readers. The web page version is the accessible one.
- The opening status ("Open tonight until 23:00") refreshes quietly every minute and is not announced.
At the restaurants
Each restaurant page lists its step-free access, accessible toilets and large-print menus. All three welcome assistance dogs.
